- 06Choosing the right therapy depends on your goals and what your body needs. If you’re not sure, that’s totally normal—I’m here to help! Whether it’s relaxation, pain relief, swelling management, or energy balancing, we can chat about what you’re feeling and what you’d like to achieve. Based on that, I can recommend the best option for you. It’s all about finding what feels right and works for you! Don’t worry too much about booking the wrong thing because when you come in we will discuss what is best for you that day. If you book MLD but end up wanting Reiki instead, I can easily pivot. The only thing that I can’t be as flexible with is Thai Massage. Setting up for a Traditional Thai Massage means taking my table down and setting up a mat on the floor.
- 07There is no need to feel embarrassed if you fall asleep during a massage session. It happens all the time. Personally, I feel quite happy when people fall asleep because it means that you feel comfortable enough with me to fully relax under my care. If you happen to drool while lying on your stomach, don’t worry about it. It happens. So does snoring. It’s all good.
- 08It’s a good idea to use the washroom before your session starts. There are 2 in the hallway right next to our clinic door. Just come inside and grab a key from one of the therapists in the clinic. If you have to go during the session, just let me know. It’s not very relaxing to hold it in. So we can just pause the treatment and resume when you are finished. No problem.

- 11Yes, I do offer outcalls and can bring my portable massage table to your home, hospital, senior centre, or other location. Outcalls are a great option for those who may have mobility challenges or prefer the comfort of their own space. That said, I approach outcalls with care and discretion. For safety reasons, I typically reserve this service for existing clients or referrals. If you're a new client and interested in an outcall, let’s discuss your needs first to ensure it’s a good fit. Your comfort and safety—and mine—are my top priorities. If I don’t feel a house call is appropriate for any reason, I’ll kindly let you know and suggest alternatives. The fee for this service is $55 on top of the session fee. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about this service!

You can also check out my blog posts for more in-depth information.
- 14Feeling stuffed up when lying face down is a common issue and happens because gravity shifts fluid and blood flow toward your head, causing mild congestion in your nasal passages. For some, allergies, sinus issues, or the pressure on the face cradle can make it worse. If this happens during your massage, let me know! I can adjust your positioning, use pillows for elevation, or change the session setup to keep you more comfortable. I’m also happy to hand you a tissue. Just ask!
- 15Most of the time, yes. But, not always. It totally depends what you are coming in for and the length of your treatment. If we are only addressing your back and/or back of your legs, you can remain face down. If you only need neck work for sinus treatment or TMJ therapy, for example, you might only need to lie face-up. We can talk about positioning when you come in for your treatment and figure out what works best for you.
- 16That depends entirely on what you are coming in for and how you feel that day. We will discuss what works best for you to make you most comfortable. You may need to lie face-up, face-down, on your side or seated on a chair. Pillows will be available for cushioning and support. If you are uncomfortable lying flat on your back, pillows can be used to put you into a semi-seated position as well.

- 18Touching your massage therapist during a session is not appropriate. If you need to adjust or communicate something, just let me know verbally. Any unnecessary or intentional touching crosses professional boundaries and may result in the session ending. Thanks for respecting this—it helps keep the space safe and professional for everyone!
- 19Yes, there are certain times when massage therapy might not be appropriate or safe—these are called contraindications. For example, if you have a fever, contagious illness, open wounds, or a recent injury, it’s usually best to wait until you’re feeling better before booking a session. Similarly, conditions like blood clots, certain types of infections, or untreated fractures may require a doctor’s clearance first. For some medical conditions, modifications can make massage safe and beneficial. If you’re unsure, just let me know what’s going on, and we can figure out the best approach for your situation. Your safety and comfort are always my top priorities!
- 20“Muscle knots” aren’t actual knots — nothing in your body is tied up like a shoelace. It’s just the nickname people use for tight, sensitive spots in a muscle. These spots can feel hard, tender, or achy when you press on them, and they often show up in the neck, shoulders, and back. They happen when muscle fibres get overworked, tired, or stuck in a bit of a “protective” mode. Things like stress, sitting too long, poor posture, or using the same muscles over and over can all set them off. So yes — knots are real in the sense that you feel them. They’re just not literally knotted. They’re tight, cranky muscle spots asking for some attention. If you're wondering how massage can help these tight spots feel looser and less annoying, I explain that in another FAQ.
